Congressman Jeff Fortenberry

On May 17th, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry dropped by St. Augustine's to visit with some of the St. Augustine students. Congressman Fortenberry said he heard Fr. Dave speaking about St. Augustine's while at church and just had to come for a visit. We were happy to host the Congressman. We have also hosted several other visitors this semester. They include author and historian, Joe Starita and his research assistant Astrid. We also welcomed Elizabeth Mulkerrin, the Education Director of Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and the Respect to All Actors. Click on the link to see more pictures.

May Parent Letter

Dear Parents:

We are in the final month of school. I am sure your children have already started counting down and can tell you that we only have 13 school days left. There are a lot of exciting events scheduled for this month.

This Friday, May7th, Fr. Don Doll will be here taking pictures for next year’s calendar. The photo shoot starts at 9:00 am. Students are encouraged to bring their regalia to wear for the photos.

Graduation is on Wednesday, May 19th at 10:00 am.

School will dismiss for the summer on May 19th at 1:30

*Reminder – If you have not turned in your re-enrollment form for next school year, please do so as soon as possible. If you need a new form please contact the school office at 878-2291.

Dear Parents:

This past week has once again brought reminders of the challenges we face when it comes to the weather. I wish to apologize for the short notice on some of the days when we had to cancel school or post late starts. All the schools in the region are required to use the same weather alert system to cancel school and the volume of schools accessing the system has caused the server at times to crash. When we do issue a late start please consider calling ahead about one hour before school is scheduled to begin to verify that we are still scheduled to be in session. When we do experience adverse weather, I urge you to use your discretion and best judgment when deciding to venture onto winter roads.

We will be celebrating Catholic School’s Week the first week of February. Catholic School’s week is a nationwide celebration among Catholic Schools to celebrate what makes a Catholic Education special. The theme for this year’s Catholic School’s Week is “Dividends for Life”. I have enclosed a copy of the week’s activities and dress themes for your review.

Despite all the days we have missed due to the weather, midterm will be on February 12th. Please visit with your child and their teacher to determine your student’s progress so far this quarter.

Remember that you can access your student’s information via the Internet at www.sycamoreeducation.com at your convenience. This is a great tool for helping us to help your child succeed. If you have questions, or need assistance please call us at 878-2291 or stop in during school hours.

Finally, Wednesday, February 17th is Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of the Lenten Season. We invite all Parents and Guardians to join us for Mass at 9:00 a.m. This is a good time to reflect on our relationship with God as well as make new efforts to follow the example of the Holy Family.

As a reminder if you haven’t signed and returned your child’s report card, please do so as soon as possible.
